The Carpet Lock rug pad is part of ABC Decorative Rugs’ hand-picked underlay collection. Made from Hooked nylon backing at 1/8" thick, it’s the pad our showroom team puts under area rugs over wall-to-wall carpet. Available in every standard area-rug size from 2x3 to 12x18, plus rounds, squares, and runners — cut-to-size on request.
Why the Carpet Lock?
If you’ve ever put an area rug on top of wall-to-wall carpet, you know the rug creeps with every step. The carpet pile resists felt and rubber. The only thing that holds is a hook-backed pad that grabs the carpet fibers and locks the rug to it. That’s exactly what the Carpet Lock does.

Materials & Construction
The Carpet Lock uses Hooked nylon backing. No PVC. No plasticizers. No synthetic adhesives that off-gas or leave residue on hardwood floor finishes. Every batch is sourced from US manufacturers under our quality-control inspection.
Felt-and-natural-rubber pads remain the industry standard for a reason: felt cushions the rug pile from below, rubber grips the floor, and the natural-rubber compound stays stable through decades of temperature swings without hardening or yellowing.
How to Install
- Unroll the pad on a clean floor and let it relax for 15–30 minutes. Any roll memory disappears in that window.
- Center the pad on the floor where the rug will sit.
- If the pad is larger than the rug, trim 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) off each side with sharp scissors or a utility knife.
- Lay the rug on top. Walk around the edges to seat it.
- That’s it. Vacuum on top of the rug as normal.
